 FAQs

  • Group lessons are 1 hour

    Semi-private lessons are 45 minutes

All students are required to purchase lesson packages which expire in 3 months from date of purchase. Our program is designed for students to ride twice per week, year-round. If you need to miss a regularly scheduled lesson, please notify the office (preferably via email) at least 24 hours in advance. That lesson will need to be made up at another time before the package expires. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will count as a lesson used from the package.

  • Students beginning at age 7 are able to take formal lessons. Younger riders develop at different rates, and our lesson program is very structured. We aim to provide a positive experience for our younger students that are just starting out and our instructors will evaluate and decide if they are ready for our program.

  • New riders start out with private lessons, and at their instructor’s recommendation may ride in a group or semi-private lesson.

  • The best day for private lessons is Sunday, or on weekdays before 3:00. Please note there is very limited availability for private lessons on weekdays after school. Group lessons are available throughout the day/evenings on weekdays, and throughout the day Saturday & Sunday.

  • The fall schedule begins on Tuesday after Labor Day and runs through the end of the school year.

  • Any student that purchases a package of lessons is required to come to their lesson dressed appropriately. Riders must have a properly-fitted ASTM-approved helmet, paddock boots, breeches or jodhpurs, gloves, and a crop. Half-chaps are recommended. These supplies can be purchased at The Horse Connection or Ride in Bedford, NY.

  • The barn is closed for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day and Easter. When school is not in session we will generally try to move the lessons earlier in the day. Any additional changes to the lesson schedule will be notified via email.

  • During inclement weather, Cavallo Dreams Farm management will determine whether or not lessons can safely proceed as scheduled. You will be notified via email/phone if your lesson needs to be rescheduled.
